Cody's First Day of School

Today was Cody's first day of pre-K. He looked very handsome in his plaid shorts and navy polo, sporting a green and yellow backpack. We visited the class last week and today he marched right in and seemed very comfortable. Miss Denise said he had a wonderful day, I am a very proud Mommy. Logan is not starting until the 16th. They are hiring an aide for him to be one on one. I have pictures to post, but every time I try to upload them I get disconnected from the internet and have to reboot everything!!?? I will keep trying.
Tomorrow Logan has a cardiology appt. and a pacemaker check. He has had his pacemaker checked over the phone twice but this one is in office in Des Moines, about 110 miles away. We also are picking up their glasses while we are there. They both are extremely!!, nearsighted with astigmatisms. This should be challenging and I will certainly need to solve my picture loading problem so they can show off their new looks.

LOGAN!

Logan is doing great. Both boys were sick for a while after Logan got home. In fact both developed fevers on the way home from the hospital! As soon as they were well it was straight back to work for my mom. Poor lady. She never sleeps, I think.

So both boys are doing well and since we've been having lots of company the last two weeks they have been fawned over as well.

Update on Logan

Hi Everyone,

Logan is not home quite yet. He was supposed to come home on Saturday but the doctors were concerned because his white cell count was elevated. He's also running fevers periodically around 100 degrees. Hopefully we'll see him home soon and he won't have to go home with any IV antibiotics to administer (which are for six weeks!).

Logan Update

Logan had his pacemaker placement Wednesday afternoon and it is working great. He was transferred out of the PICU today and had his chest tubes and temporary pacer wires removed. After surgery he was dependent on the external pacemaker, I wasn't even allowed to hold him for fear it would become disconnected. They had to use restraints for his own saftey, he pulled out some lines with his feet the first night even with the restraints. I had to sit right next to him and try to deter him and comfort him, if I was there he could have a little more freedom. I felt so bad, he must have thought he landed in an even worse orphanage than before. Now we are both enjoying that he can be held and move around more. We hope to be discharged this weekend, it will be so good to be home! Cody has done well with all that has been going on and has been very busy with Dad and his sisters. He found the hospital very interesting and really enjoyed the peds playroom.

Logan's progress

Logan will be going in for a second surgery tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. He will be having a pacemaker implanted. If the pacemaker is not a good fit for him (for reasons I'm not sure on) a different pacemaker will be used instead and that would involve a THIRD surgery the next day. He's a trooper though!

A vacation from the flood waters!

This is Anne, Lin's daughter, again. I live in Iowa City and attend the University of Iowa here. Since school was cancelled last week and I didn't fancy living on an island surrounded by flooded neighborhoods I visited home. Boy was I surprised! Logan is so chubby and Cody has definitely filled out! He's also gotten taller I think! Cody has also learned to jump and is very proud of this new talent. He will display his skill over and over for anyone who will clap for him :)


Logan loves to tease my oldest sister Sara and though she complains she loves it. He'll climb up on the couch next to her and tuck himself under her blanket and poke and prode at her. I think it's adorable!

Now for the pictures... Enjoy! (I also notice now that no photos are of Cody. Yes, I love both of my brothers equally but my camera died and Cody's pics are on my cell phone)





















Did I also mention that while up on the couch Logan loves to steal Sara's special treats?... Such as delicious (and messy) powdered donuts. Let the chaos ensue!

I also thought now that Logan has a little length to his hair he could try out a new spiked and gelled look!

Logan's Surgery

We have heard back from the surgeon's office and Logan's surgery is scheduled for July 10 at 7:30. We are having it done in Des Moines and are to check in the day before at 12:00. Two of my daughters live in Des Moines, so we will have a place to stay. He will probably be there for about a week. He is such a tough little guy, we know he'll pull through it just fine.
